The Crow Convention, 2008

Jamie Notarthomas' newest CD revisits timeless the themes he's known for with a captivating view of the outside world and the introspective.  This recoring uses all the instruments of an orchestra while focusing on acoustic guitar and piano.

Climbing out of the 20th Century, 1999

The much anticipated 1999 acoustic release captures many musical styles with ten new originals and an out-take from Heads or Tales. The new CD by Jamie Notarthomas features some of his strongest writing to date. 10 raw cuts performed primarily with a single heartfelt voice accompanied by acoustic guitar and harmonica. "Critics compare the style to Bob Dylan, Woody Gutherie and Neil Young. Some songs are hilarious; others carry messages of preservation, compassion, tolerance and beauty of nature."

Heads or Tales, 1995

"Jamie’s second CD, recorded with the band, displays his ability to weld music and art. Notarthomas roams across several genres on Heads or Tales while hewing a holistic 60’s outlook on life & love. He goes from Jazzy blues to funky rock to celtic swing & back again, meeting the demands of those vocal styles while keeping his own identity intact.“

Special  guests include Blues Traveler’s John Popper and Trey Anastasio of Phish.
Debut CD, 1990

This first release with a full band hosts the critically acclaimed song, “Minus One” which was recorded with the 10,000 Maniacs. “...Notarthomas shines on his original songs that give him the freedom to express ideas and emotions seriously and honestly.”

Talking about the albums...

Now with his latest release, Climbing out of the 20th Century, Jamie claims his spot amongst the most talented song writers and performers working today. With tunes that retain his own recognizable and original style, he displays a song-writing prowess reminiscient of such greats as Bob Dylan, Woodie Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, and Bruce Cockburn.

Climbing Out of the 20th Century, his third CD, is a pure acoustic folk album and represents the approach that this musician is so well known for. Notarthomas’ inspired songs present a fresh, original angle and often unique arrangements that eloquently honor the timeless tradition of pure folk music.

Climbing showcases his ability to exhaust the most difficult of subject matter with clever poetic form. The album is infused with a sense of the spiritual, with themes ranging from socio-political, environmental, and psychological, to the deeply personal. His lighter themes are sometimes humorous or clever musings about the local central NY region where he has lived. All of this is delivered with a wildly versatile voice capable of a three octave range and single guitar and harmonica that people often mistake for a whole band.
